How To Meditate Mindfully
(~~Back To Stress Information And Articles~~)
Mindfulness meditation is simple, but not easy. The following steps will get you started.
Here's how: Sit or lay quietly and notice your breath moving in and out. Notice anything else you feel in your body. As other thoughts intrude, let them go. Remain aware of being in the present moment. Practice for 15-20 minutes daily. As the chatter in your mind settles down, you will discover a peaceful state.
Tips: You can eat, drink, or walk mindfully by focusing exclusively on eating, drinking, or walking. Stop and notice your breath at various times throughout the day.
Mindfulness based stress reduction ( MBSR ), a meditation technique has been defined as the state of attention and awareness of present experiences, bringing oneself in touch with inner wisdom and moment by moment awareness of what one experiences and feels. Paying attention to sounds, breathing rhythms, inner feelings, and our reaction patterns to specific situations are all part of being mindful.
Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Stress Reduction Clinic, the oldest and largest hospital based stress reduction clinic in the world developed MBSR in 1979.
