Commemorative Wall Hanging Directions

Materials:

1 Yard of 45 inch wide material for back and tabs
1 Yard of 45 inch wide material white or off white for the front
36 inch square piece of batting
3/8 Yard of 45 inch wide material for border on front
9 Iron On Transfers
Computer with a scanner and printer

Assembling:

1. For Back: Cut a 36 inch square block.
2. Top Tabs: Cut left over back material into four even strips.
3. Front Blocks: Cut 9- 12 inch square blocks out of the white front material.
4. Front Border: Cut the 3/8 yard of material into four even strips.
5. Scan pictures on the computer. You may increase the size before printing it on the iron on transfer.
6. Apply iron on transfers to front blocks following manufacturers directions.
7. Sew front blocks together using a 5/8 inch seam allowance. ( 3 across- 3 down)
8. Sew front border strips around front block.
9. Fold tabs in half lengthwise with right sides facing. Sew side seam. Turn and press.
10. Fold tabs in half, space tabs evenly across top with raw edges along front top and the folded edge is facing center of front.
11. Lay back on top with right sides facing.
12. Lay batting on top of back. Pin all layers together.
13. Sew around outside leaving a space to turn.
14. Slip stitch to close opening.
