Grief Rituals
~3~
Donate A Book: Donate a book in memory of your loved one. There are several area support groups or organizations within the communities that would be very appreciative of donated books.
Make A Baby Book: To hold any photo's, foot and hand prints, blanket infant was wrapped in, hospital ID bracelet, lock of hair, crib name card, or any other articles that may be used as mementos. This could also be a place to write down your hopes and dreams that you had for the infant, or letters or poetry that you write. If the infant has surviving siblings, let them write letters and draw pictures to put in the album.
Make A Memory Album: Gather report cards, drawings, photo's, school awards, or any other kind of paper mementos and arrange them in a scrapbook or photo album that represent the life of your loved one. Old photo's can be touched up
at a professional lab if necessary.
Order A Remembrance Album: In an attempt to provide meaningful and permanent remembrances, HALos is offering a unique alternative to memorialize your loved one. A Remembrance Album can be uniquely constructed from your loved ones clothing. Please visit our Projects And Services Page for more information.
Create A Shadow Box: Shadow boxes can be purchased at craft stores. The inside can be covered with material or loved one's clothing and can be filled with a variety of loved one's personal objects and items that represent your loved one's life time. My sister in law made me one as a Christmas gift that includes old buttons and hairpins, which dates my mother's lifetime.
Put Together A Memory Box: A memory box can range in size from quite small to very large depending on the amount of items that you want or have to keep inside. Birth certificates, marriage license, drivers license, photo's, favorite toy or blanket, baby book, article of clothing, hospital ID bracelet, school report cards, sympathy cards, newspaper clippings and other special mementos can be kept inside. Undecorated boxes can be decorated in the theme of a loved one's bedroom or with their favorite items.
Display Fresh Cut Or Dried Flowers: Flowers are symbolic. A florist could help you select flowers that represent your loved one for a special arrangement.
Plant A Tree: Plant a tree or bush in memory of your loved one within the community. Contact the school or your workplace as possibilities.
